What is that sticky film on the roof?
You park under the old trees off Los Alamitos Boulevard, or on one of the Rossmoor side streets, and a week later the roof has a tacky sheen you can feel with a fingertip. Rain does not take it off. It spreads it.
Tree sap is not the same as dirt. It is acidic, it hardens in the sun, and left on the paint long enough it etches a mark into the clear coat that no wash will lift. Cars parked under mature trees here collect it all summer.
Washing alone will not undo it. Soap lifts what is sitting loose on top. Anything bonded to the clear coat stays exactly where it is, and scrubbing at a hardened spot usually leaves a dull patch where the sap used to be.
So we work from the paint out. We pull the bonded contamination off first so the surface is actually clean, correct what the sap and the sun have already done, then protect it so the next drop sits on top instead of soaking in.

That is the difference between a fifteen dollar tunnel and what we do. Not how it looks driving off, but how it looks after two weeks parked under a jacaranda.
Most weeks we are somewhere between Katella and the Rossmoor gates, working in a driveway, a garage or a shaded spot at the curb. Shade is half the problem here. It keeps the car cool and it puts sap on the roof, so we plan around where you actually park.
A coating is the service that pays for itself fastest under trees. Sap lands on the coating instead of the clear coat, so it lifts off rather than etching in. If the paint already carries marks from last summer, correction comes first.

Sap is acidic and patient. The layer on your paint decides whether it etches a scar or lifts off with the next wash.

Do you come out to Los Alamitos?
Yes, most weeks. It is about twenty minutes up the 605 from the shop in Cerritos and there is no travel charge inside the service area. Call or text (562) 445-1457.
What do most people here book?
The full detail, from $150, usually because of what the trees have left on the roof. If the sap has been sitting a while we will look at correction after.
Can sap marks be removed, or is that permanent?
It depends how long it sat. Fresh sap comes off with decontamination. Once it has etched a ring into the clear coat it needs machine correction, which we quote after an inspection rather than book at a set price.
My car sat for months while I was away. What does it need?
Usually more inside than out. An interior that sits closed up goes musty, and the outside picks up a bonded layer that a wash will not shift. Send a couple of photos and we will tell you which end needs the work.
Will a ceramic coating help with the trees?
More than anything else we offer. Sap on a coated car sits on the surface instead of bonding to the paint, so it lifts off instead of etching. Coatings start at $800 and include paint correction first.
Is wax enough for this?
Not really. Wax is soft and sap goes straight through it. A sealant holds up better, and a coating is the only thing that lasts years rather than weeks.
Do you need my water and power?
No. Everything comes with the van, so all we need is somewhere to park beside the car.
How long does it take?
An exterior detail is about an hour. A full detail is longer and a ceramic coating is a full day. We confirm the exact window when you book.
