Why does the salt come back before the weekend?
You rinse the car on a side street off Main, walk down to the pier, and by the time you are back there is a dull white bloom across the glass and the mirrors. Park within a few blocks of the sand and it happens faster than that.
Salt spray is not the same as sea air. This close to the water you get actual droplets carried in on the wind. They dry on the panel and leave the salt sitting there. A car parked outside in Old Town or out at Surfside takes that every night the breeze comes onshore.
Rinsing alone will not undo it. Water moves what is loose and leaves the rest bonded to the clear coat, and once salt has been sitting around trim and badges it starts working on the metal underneath.
So we get it off properly, then keep it off. A hand wash and a full decontamination pull the bonded salt out of the paint, then a sealant or a coating gives the next batch far less to hold onto, so a rinse does something again.

The math
What living near the sand should cost your car
The ocean charges rent on every car parked near it. Paying that rent once, in protection, is cheaper than paying it slowly in dulled paint and pitted trim.
The one-year coating is $800. The seven-year is $1,600 and works out to about $19 a month. Kept nice once beats fixed twice, and the longest option is the cheapest one to own.
Every coating includes fixing the paint first, because a coating locks in whatever is under it.

Can you get into Leisure World?
Yes. Call the gate ahead of the appointment the way you would for any visitor and we come straight to you. It helps if you tell us the building when you book.
What do most people here book?
The full detail, from $150. Living this close to the water means the paint usually needs decontaminating before anything else is worth doing.
Does salt actually damage paint, or does it just look bad?
Both. It dulls the finish, and it works into the gaps around trim and badges, which is where corrosion starts. Getting it off properly matters more here than almost anywhere else we work.
My car is garage-kept and barely driven. Does it still need this?
Less than you would think, and that is the point. Straight paint is the cheapest paint to protect. A sealant or a coating on a car in good condition costs far less than correcting one that has been left.
Will a ceramic coating stop the salt?
It will not stop it landing, but it stops it bonding. On a coated car the salt sits on the surface and rinses away. Coatings start at $800 and include paint correction first.
Do you need my water and power?
No. The van carries both. All we need is room to park next to the car.
How long does it take?
An exterior detail is about an hour. A full detail is longer and a ceramic coating is a full day. We confirm the exact window when you book.
